About Mr Mark Thomas
Mr Mark Thomas graduated from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School in 1991. Following that, he completed his specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery via his North West Thames rotation and undertook a fellowship in spinal surgery and trauma in Toronto, Canada.
Mr Thomas was appointed as a consultant at Frimley Park Hospital in 2002.
His specialist interest is in spinal surgery. He is very passionate and involved in developing and expanding spinal services in the area. Additionally, he is a fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association and Royal Society of Medicine and a member of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons and the Spine Society of Europe.
He is married to Alison, a local GP, and has two children now both at university.

I was immediately put at ease by Mr. Thomas. He was polite and courteous and listened to my concerns. He was honest and unsure re a diagnosis but provided a route for further investigations and who would be most appropriate to see next.
Unfortunately I have had a buttock/thigh issue for 4 years which is proving difficult to resolve. I was referred to Mark Thomas to obtain a second opinion. I have been delighted with the professionalism shown by the Spinal Consultant who has been treating me for 4 years and very happy that he chose to discuss me with Mark Thomas. It is very reassuring to see consultants working together trying to solve what seems to be an elusive issue. I found Mark equally professional and was pleased that he has arrived at a similar opinion and has suggested a way forward.
Everything was very pleasant. Explanations were clear and informative. Examination was as I expected.
Following a referral from my GP due to an episode of back pain and some side effects. I contacted Mr. Thomas to seek help in finding out the cause having been operated on my back previously by Mr. Thomas. He ordered an MRI scan and I attended a consultation for the results. Following examination it was clear I needed further treatment and he gave me three options. Of these we discussed the prognosis and best way forward . I felt very comfortable with the outcome of the meeting and assured that given some time things would settle down. I felt reassured and am very thankful for his help going forward to resolved the current condition of my spine. causing the pain.
An informative initial consultation. Now awaiting scan results before deciding on next steps.
