Mr James Rowland

Mr James Rowland is a Consultant Gynaecologist. Qualifying in medicine from the University of Manchester in 2006, he completed higher specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology across the North West Deanery. He holds additional postgraduate qualifications in Medical Education and Leadership from the Universities of Manchester and Edge Hill, and is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE).

Appointed as a Consultant Gynaecologist in 2015, Mr Rowland brings a decade of consultant-level expertise in advanced minimal access (keyhole) gynaecological surgery and modern menstrual disorder management. His operative practice focuses on laparoscopic procedures,  including keyhole hysterectomy, excision of endometriosis, pelvic adhesiolysis, fibroid removal (myomectomy), and laparoscopic sterilisation. In addition to laparoscopic surgery, he offers outpatient hysteroscopy and advanced endometrial ablation techniques (such as NovaSure and first-generation techniques), enabling many menstrual conditions to be treated effectively without abdominal surgery. Mr Rowland is actively involved in surgical simulation training, directing advanced laparoscopic courses and teaching endoscopic techniques both nationally and internationally.

Mr Rowland's expertise includes:

• Laparoscopic (Keyhole) Surgery: Total laparoscopic hysterectomy, excision/ablation of pelvic endometriosis, pelvic adhesiolysis, laparoscopic myomectomy (fibroid removal), ovarian cystectomy, and laparoscopic sterilisation
• Menstrual Disorder Management: Investigation and treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), irregular bleeding, and pelvic pain
• Outpatient & Diagnostic Gynaecology: Outpatient diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, polyp removal, and targeted endometrial biopsy
• Endometrial Ablation Techniques: NovaSure radiofrequency ablation and first-generation techniques for minimally invasive management of severe menstrual disorders
