Mr Welch is a Consultant General Surgeon.
He grew up in Cheshire and studied medicine at Sheffield University, he completed his surgical training in the South Yorkshire region. He has been a Consultant General Surgeon at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust since 2001 and at the BMI Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle since 2002. He has a specific interest in hernia and gall bladder / gall stone surgery including laparoscopic surgery and also benign upper gastrointestinal surgery including anti-reflux surgery. He is also experienced in gastroscopy / upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.
His research interests include Nutrition, Gastrointestinal Function, Oesophageal and Gastric Cancer.
