About Mr Francis Gardner

Since his qualification in 1992, Consultant Gynaecologist and Cancer Surgeon Mr Francis Gardner has dedicated his career to women's health. Initially trained and practiced in both obstetrics and gynaecology for 17 years, he made the pivotal decision in 2006 to exclusively focus on gynaecology and gynaecological oncology.

Throughout his career, Mr Gardner has worked closely with patients dealing with both benign and malignant gynaecological conditions, earning international recognition for his contributions to key surgical and investigative procedures. He offers complex laparoscopic and open surgery for conditions such as menstrual issues, endometriosis, fibroids, and all gynaecological cancers.

Mr Gardner's special interests include comprehensive screening for gynaecological cancers, the detection of abnormalities within the female reproductive system, and his distinctive surgical approach. As a knowledgeable and compassionate gynaecologist, he has significantly improved his patients' quality of life, whether diagnosing chronic health conditions or addressing life-threatening cancers.

Internationally renowned for his expertise in awake-patient procedures, particularly hysteroscopies, Mr Gardner has contributed to the development of innovative surgical equipment for these procedures. He's a recognised authority and educator in laparoscopic surgery and complex gynaecological cancer surgery, holding dual accreditations from the General Medical Council (GMC) in obstetrics and gynaecology, and gynaecological oncology.

Additionally, Mr Gardner is accredited by The British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP) and serves on the Hologic advisory board. His active research pursuits encompass investigating gynaecological conditions and potential treatments, resulting in numerous publications in respected journals.

Mr Gardner frequently shares his expertise as a guest speaker at prestigious medical conferences, and his passion for education extends to extensive contributions to prominent medical journals. He is a multi-award winner, honoured for his work in various medical societies.

Mr Gardner has always provided the best care of any medical professional I have been seen by. He is very clear, straight to the point and always very friendly whilst doing so. I appreciate the time he always puts in to my appointments and always lets me ask as many questions as I like. He also spent great time and effort with the surgical procedure I needed 3 years ago, which I’m not sure would have been the case had I gone for someone else. I trust him entirely and wouldn’t want to be seen by anyone else now. And most importantly it’s really thanks to him that I was able to then fall pregnant and we now have our little boy and that’s something I could never thank him enough for.
