I was referred to Mr Alex Chung when diagnosed with colon cancer through a routine check, out of the blue. As soon as we met him, we felt completely at ease and could tell that he was an outstanding individual. He clearly explained the best course of action to us - which would involve major surgery - and his compassionate yet efficient approach suited me perfectly. I very much appreciate doctors who take the time to communicate all of the details to their patients, which I do understand takes up additional time and isn't always possible. For Mr Chung however, this open approach seemed very normal, and he was available to answer the many questions that arose with authority and patience, as I had never had an operation or anaesthetic before. From the point of diagnosis onwards, every doctor and nurse I spoke with, including my GP, gastroenterologist and oncologist, commented that I was in the very best of hands with Mr Chung, which I think speaks volumes. He has such a kind and professional healing energy, as well as a great sense of humour. The surgery itself was very successful, and Mr Chung was available at the hospital every day in person and over the phone to care for me. I am so grateful to have been recommended to him, and take great comfort in knowing that I will be under his care for the next few years. I shall be forever in his debt.

Mr Chung exceeded all expectations throughout my treatment journey. He has always made himself available to answer any questions I've had, either in person or over the phone (incl. weekends). Post-surgery, his calm and reassuring presence made all the difference. Now, while on the road to recovery, he continually checks in to ensure I'm doing okay. Really impressive and I can't speak highly enough of him.

I went to see Mr Chung for an incisional hernia, caused by a previous surgery (not performed by Mr Chung). I was keen to get it fixed - the hernia was quite unsightly and the scarring from previous surgery just horrific - but he explained to me that more time needed to pass after the initial surgery, for adhesions to soften and for my body to recover. While this was not the answer I was hoping for, it did make me feel very confident about Mr Chung as he was clearly not just focused doing the surgery, but also on choosing the optimum timing, which ended up being extremely important. Following a CT scan, Mr Chung referred me to a colleague of his and the plan was for the two of them to perform surgery together. This was classified as a complex hernia, and I am very grateful that Mr Chung made sure that he had the best team at hand. The surgery - although done privately - was unfortunately cancelled the day before it was supposed to take place, but this was not due to Mr Chung but rather one of the many lockdowns we all had to endure. In the end the hernia repair was done months later, and now I am recovering. Mr Chung is an outstanding surgeon and an all-round amazing guy. Direct when he has to be, considerate and understanding when needed, doesn't beat about the bush but also knows how to listen. I felt heard and understood and supported through has been the worst year of my life.

I couldn’t have felt more cared for Mr Chung. From our first meeting with him, both my partner and I felt so at ease, he explained everything so clearly and with such compassion and we left feeling like we were in the best of hands. He was always there for any questions however big or small to help put our minds at ease! The surgery was very successful and the after care I received was brilliant. I am so grateful to have been recommended him.
