About Mr Elijah Ablorsu
Mr Elijah Ablorsu is
an experienced Consultant General, Laparoscopic and Upper-GI Surgeon in
Cardiff, with more than 16 years of practice at consultant level. His private
work is centred on gallstones and gallbladder problems and on groin and
abdominal-wall hernias. His particular areas of expertise include laparoscopic
(keyhole) gallbladder surgery and laparoscopic hernia repair.
He provides
comprehensive assessment and treatment for patients with gallstones and
hernias. Mr Ablorsu manages gallstones, biliary colic and other gallbladder
problems and performs laparoscopic cholecystectomy (keyhole gallbladder
removal). He treats inguinal (groin), femoral, umbilical, epigastric, ventral
and incisional hernias, including complex abdominal hernias. The surgical
approach is selected individually, taking account of the hernia type, the
patient’s health, current clinical guidance and lifestyle, with the aim of
securing the best possible outcome for that patient.
Mr Ablorsu brings
extensive surgical expertise and up-to-date evidence-based practice to every
consultation, with an emphasis on shared decision-making. Patients receive a
personalised assessment, a detailed discussion and a tailored management plan,
followed by guided post-operative care. Where appropriate, he uses minimally
invasive techniques to lessen post-operative discomfort and help patients
return to everyday activities sooner.
He holds MD, FRCS and FEBS qualifications and is Clinical Lead for Organ Retrieval at Cardiff and
Vale University Health Board. His wider responsibilities in transplantation,
organ retrieval, clinical governance and service development complement his
established general surgical practice.

I get a bit nervous in a doctors surgery or in a hospital but Mr Oblorsu made me feel at ease fairly quickly. I was concerned because of my age but was quickly put at ease. He explained everything to me in an easy to understand way. I keep very fit and he even went through what I was able to do after the operation. Overall it was a good experience for me.

I am a nervous patient and suffer with health anxiety after losing my mum to ovarian cancer a few years ago so stepping into a hospital is huge for me. Mr Ablorsu was amazing from the first consultation through to the follow up appointment after gallbladder removal surgery. He explained the entire process of the surgery using diagrams and in an understandable way.
