About Mr Cesare Quarto
Mr Cesare Quarto is a highly regarded cardiothoracic surgeon at the Royal Brompton Hospital. He has extensive experience in all aspects of cardiac surgery but specialises in complex aortic surgery and coronary artery bypass surgery.
He graduated with honours from the University of Naples in Italy before relocating to London in 2007 to train with world-renowned cardiac surgeons at the Royal Brompton Hospital. He has jointly received three international awards for presentations on how to treat mitral regurgitation in patients unsuitable for open-heart surgery, illustrating the use of the world's first transcatheter heart valve implantation programme at the Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals.
Mr Cesare Quarto has authored several research papers in medical publications on a variety of topics. In his spare time, his hobbies include travelling and playing sport.

I recently in short order discovered i had CAD, and after an angiogram in the Royal Brompton was referred to Cesare for CABG. He came to discuss with me the procedure, timescale, etc etc. All very clear and professional. Perhaps more importantly, he is clearly an extremely competent surgeon, so the (off pump) CABG went well. As was the immediate recovery and rehab
I cannot speak highly enough about Mr Quarto and his team. The professionalism, care and skill throughout my journey (heart valve and ascending aorta replacement) were exemplary.. throughout the entire process there was an excellent plan for pre-op, op and post-op which was transparent and fully explained. The actual procedure was a great success and recovery is progressing extremely well (10 weeks post op). I feel extraordinarily lucky to have found my way to Mr Quarto and his team, undoubtedly a very special and skilled surgeon..
My wife was initially taken to Stoke Mandeville where I was told she was not likely to make it . Luckily a transfer was arranged to Royal Brompton where emergency surgery was carried out by Mr Quarto and his team . In short, he and his team saved her life. We have nothing but praise and respect for both the surgery and the communication that took place with myself and family
An incredible surgeon who saved my mother’s life with an emergency surgery even after other hospitals declined the case when phoned by the local A&E: we were so fortunate he was her doctor. He then kept us, her family, informed throughout, explained everything, followed up and visited her multiple times in recovery. He is a truly special man as well as a world leading physician.
