About Mr Brian Cohen
Mr Brian Cohen is Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based at the London Orthopaedic Clinic, of which he is a founding partner. He is highly specialised in the treatment of injuries and chronic conditions relating to the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, as well as nerve and common tendon conditions. He has a wealth of experience in treating arthritis, carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow and frozen shoulder, and all upper limb fractures, as well as performing joint replacements, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilisation following dislocation, and arthroscopic subacromial decompression.
Mr Cohen began undertook his undergraduate medical degree at The Royal London Hospital where he qualified in 1982. He then proceeded to do specialist training in orthopaedic surgery in London and Cambridge. He also undertook a research degree focusing on The Remodelling of Bone in Response to Prosthetic Implants resulting in him being awarded an MD for his work. Following this, he undertook a fellowship abroad in Australia on advanced arthroscopic techniques.
Upon his return to the UK, he was appointed Consultant within the University College London Hospitals Trust. Following his appointment, he was offered a Travelling Fellowship for the European Shoulder and Elbow Society, a highly prestigious training opportunity. He remained the Clinical Director for Musculoskeletal Services at UCLH for 2 years (2000-2002).

Mr Cohen explored options with me. He was informative, gentle and inclusive. I didn’t feel pushed into a decision or rushed. He talked with me before and after surgery. His guidance post-surgery was clear, helpful and practical. I liked his anaesthetist who didn’t leave me covered in bruises. The follow-up consultation was friendly, professional and helpful regarding physio.

He really is the best in his trade, I feel safe and confident in his hands and it sort of makes me feel safe breaking bones in the future which in riding horses sadly is very likely. I have come out of 3 ops now where he has bolted me back in and he has allowed me to get on doing the things I love. He is an elite surgeon.

Recent visit was to get results of an MRI scan on one of my shoulders. Once Dr Cohen had explained what treatment I needed this was arranged within about 20 minutes! I was very impressed with this, not least as it saved me another trip to London with the time and associated costs. I will definitely be recommending this clinic. And furthermore it upholds the excellent international Mayo tradition and reputation
