Mr Arthur Galea

Mr Arthur Galea is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at the Royal Free hospital. He qualified from the University of Malta in 1995 and after his junior training in Malta, he undertook specialist training on the North East Thames Rotation in 2000 focusing primarily on knee surgery. He also gained extensive experience and skills in the treatment of complex lower limb fractures working at the Royal London Hospital. Mr Galea undertook subspecialist training in Sidney, Australia, where he mastered computer-guided knee replacements, knee ligament reconstruction, meniscal repair, patellofemoral surgery and osteotomies around the knee. He also performed research into cruciate ligament reconstruction and bone grafting using different fixation devices. Mr Galea has an established knee practice at the Royal Free Hospital where he has set up an Enhanced Recovery Programme for patients undergoing total hip and knee replacements with the aim to improve surgical outcomes.

Mr Arthur Galea is actively involved in training and education. He is an ATLS instructor with the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is the Clinical and Educational Supervisor for Foundation Year doctors at the Royal Free Hospital.
