Mr. Ajay Nigam trained as an ENT surgeon gaining experience in Birmingham, Newcastle, and Cambridge as a trainee and was then appointed as a Consultant ENT and Head & Neck Surgeon at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals in 1996. He is also an Honorary Consultant Surgeon at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

Mr Nigam is the lead head and neck surgeon and lead thyroid surgeon in the Trust.

He was awarded the TWJ Fellowship to work at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. and is the Chairman Of the Head & Neck Cancer Newtwork Site Specific Group for Lancashire and South Cumbria. He has has been awarded the Lifetime achievement Award for his contribution to Head and Neck Cancer by Swallows Charity and took part in the BBC TV series, Blackpool Medics.

His clinical interests include head and neck surgery, Laryngology, Thyroid surgery, Rhinology and Sleep disorders.

Mr Nigam has also developed an interest in performing balloon sinuplasty, functional endoscopic sinus surgery and minimally invasive treatment of snoring.
