Dr. Monique Basson

Dr. Monique Basson is a highly qualified Counselling Psychologist who provides compassionate and evidence-based psychological support to individual adults and couples. With a clinical focus on helping individuals navigate complex emotional and mental health challenges, she supports patients experiencing mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, burnout, and loneliness. Dr. Basson also assists those dealing with relationship difficulties, stress, adjustment issues, emotional dysregulation, low self-esteem, and both chemical and behavioural addictions. Her therapeutic approach is tailored to the unique needs of each patient, aiming to foster resilience and enhance overall wellbeing.

In her clinical practice, Dr. Basson utilises a diverse range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to support her patients' recovery and personal growth. She regularly practises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. Her extensive clinical background includes working within inpatient and outpatient addiction rehabilitation settings, where she has developed deep expertise in treating substance- and alcohol-related disorders as well as chemical dependence.

Dr. Basson completed her comprehensive academic training in South Africa, obtaining her Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from the University of the Free State. Her academic credentials also include a Master of Social Science in Counselling Psychology, a Master of Social Science, a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours), and a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Human and Societal Dynamics. She is a registered Counselling Psychologist with both the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the United Kingdom and the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Alongside her clinical work, she has contributed to the academic community as a Research Supervisor and an Associate Psychologist.
