About Dr Mokhtar Ibrahim
Dr. Mokhtar Ibrahim is an internationally trained Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist based in Leicester, specialising in the management of cardiac arrhythmias, syncope, atrial fibrillation, and sports cardiology. He is highly experienced in advanced cardiac procedures, including pacemaker and device implantation, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) insertion, and radiofrequency ablation.
Dr. Ibrahim graduated in 2005 from Ain Shams University in Egypt, where he also completed his specialist cardiology training and went on to serve as a Consultant Cardiologist at the university hospital in Cairo. In 2016, he relocated to the UK to pursue a two-year advanced clinical fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology and devices at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital, one of the world’s leading cardiac centres.
Since 2019, Dr. Ibrahim has been among a select group of UK cardiologists holding European accreditation in both cardiac electrophysiology and device therapy, awarded by the European Heart Rhythm Association.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Ibrahim is deeply involved in research and education. He has served as co-principal investigator on multiple studies, published widely in peer-reviewed journals, and presented at conferences across Egypt, the UK, and internationally. He also contributes to the training of future cardiologists through teaching posts at Imperial College London and as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester.
In 2023, Dr. Ibrahim was recognised nationally with a Healthcare Pioneer Award for his contributions to the treatment of atrial fibrillation.

We appreciate that pain threshold is quite variable that’s why we normally tell our patients to communicate with us if they are in pain to top up the amount of pain relief medications. Pleasant and friendly welcome explained everything advice given put mind at ease and future procedures discussed if I had any recurring symptoms appointment was on time and staff were polite and helpful

Very smooth experience- I’m somewhat a nervous patient and everything was explained thoroughly. The facility and all of the team there are first class- although I’m in no rush to revisit, it was great!
I had a very successful heart ablation procedure performed by Dr Mokhtar Ibrahim, and I cannot thank him and his team enough for the care and professionalism I received. From the initial consultation through to the procedure and follow-up, Dr Ibrahim was extremely knowledgeable, reassuring and approachable. He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my questions and gave me complete confidence in the treatment. The ablation was a great success, and I am extremely pleased with the outcome. I am very grateful to Dr Ibrahim for his expertise, skill and the excellent care he provided throughout the whole process. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Dr Ibrahim to anyone needing this type of treatment. An outstanding doctor and a credit to his profession.
