About Mr Aemn Ismail

Mr. Aemn Ismail is a highly accomplished Consultant Gynaecological Surgeon and Gynaecological Cancer Clinical Lead at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, where he also serves as MDT Chair. With subspecialty accreditation in Gynaecological Oncology, Mr. Ismail brings extensive expertise in the management of both general gynaecological conditions and complex oncological cases. His approach is rooted in compassion, precision, and patient-centred care.

Mr. Ismail provides comprehensive care across the full spectrum of gynaecology, managing conditions such as menstrual disorders, PCOS, pelvic pain, endometriosis, postmenopausal bleeding, fibroids, ovarian and adnexal cysts, menopausal symptoms, contraception and family planning, vulval and cervical disorders, uterine and vaginal prolapse, subfertility, gynaecological infections, early pregnancy complications, and recurrent miscarriage. He also performs hysteroscopy, colposcopy, and other minor diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

His specialist interests include minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) surgery, advanced endometriosis management, and complex oncological surgery. He has played a key role in developing ultra-radical and exenterative surgeries for advanced gynaecological cancers, as well as introducing sentinel lymph node biopsies for vulval and endometrial cancers at Leicester.

Mr. Ismail is a BSCCP-accredited colposcopist and trainer, with significant expertise in diagnosing and treating vulval, vaginal, and cervical pre-cancer conditions. He is passionate about using minimally invasive techniques to ensure faster recovery, minimal scarring, and optimal long-term outcomes for his patients.

In addition to his clinical roles, Mr. Ismail is an ESGO Training Supervisor and Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Genetic Genomics and Cancer Sciences at the Leicester Cancer Research Centre, University of Leicester. He is actively engaged in medical education, surgical training, and clinical research, regularly publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at national and international scientific meetings.

I had an excellent experience with Mr Amen Ismail, from my very first appointment through to my discharge after surgery. He listened carefully to all of my concerns, took the time to answer my questions, and provided personalized advice that made me feel confident and well cared for. He was reassuring throughout the entire process, which helped put me at ease. The surgery went very well, and my recovery has been amazing. I am truly grateful for the exceptional care I received. He was highly professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and very easy to talk to, making every appointment a positive experience. I would also like to thank the entire team at Spire Hospital for their kindness, support, and excellent care throughout my stay and all of my appointments. I had a wonderful experience overall and would highly recommend them. Thank you!

Thanks to his exceptional surgical skills, I experienced minimal pain and was able to go home the very next day. I was up and walking around within a week. I cannot thank Mr Ismail enough. I highly recommend him to anyone facing this procedure.

The visit was ok. Mr Ismail brought in a health care assistant when he examined me. When I got dressed I felt rushed and she stood over me as I tried to get my shoes on and made me feel like I was taking too long. She suggested I put them on properly when I got home. In the end I had to leave without putting them on properly. There was no chair to leave my clothes on or sit on to do my shoes, so it's hardly surprising I struggled. Im not sure how sunroof kess able bodied would manage. She needs to improve her manner, she didn't show any empathy. The appointment was the 1st the day and started 15 minutes late, which wasn't an issue in itself but it was a short appointment and I didn't appreciate being rushed out. I honestly never complain, but felt it was important to feed this back.

I couldn’t have asked for better support or care, thank you. Mr Ismail was so kind from the moment I met him at the initial consultation and on the day of my surgery and at today’s follow up meeting. I cannot thank Mr Ismail, his very efficient secretary and the team at the Nuffield Hospital enough for making this scary event in my life so easy to manage.

Mr Aemn Ismail was truly a blessing to have as my surgeon! I was assured and given a very thorough understanding of the procedure and what to expect with all possibilities, he was very clear what to expect with the recovery process, what long term recovery will look like. Mr Ismail is very supportive and understanding. He is very patient and takes his time. The other doctors around him also praise his work and how he operates. I have since been recommending him to a number of friends who are struggling to get answers or not understanding what their options are. He comes extremely highly recommended, I am truly grateful!
