Miss Abigail Evans

Miss Abigail Evans is a consultant general surgeon. She graduated from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College, London in 1987. Her General Surgical Training was undertaken in South West London and Wessex. She undertook a period of research at the Royal Marsden Hospital leading to the award of an MD in 1998. Miss Evans continued her specialist training in breast, thyroid and parathyroid surgery and oncology, which she undertook at the Royal Marsden and Hammersmith Hospitals in London and as a Senior Fellow at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia.

Miss Evans was appointed to her Consultant post in Poole in 1999 since when she has been the Clinical Lead for the Poole Breast Unit encompassing the management of all aspects of screening and symptomatic breast disease. She is also the Clinical Lead for Endocrine Surgical Services including thyroid and parathyroid surgery. She chairs the Breast MDT at Poole and the Dorset Endocrine/Thyroid MDT.

Miss Evans has specialist expertise in treating breast and thyroid cancer, breast reconstruction and parathyroid surgery. She is also has extensive experience in national and international clinical trial recruitment for breast cancer. Miss Evans is currently an elected member of the Executive Board of the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons. Miss Evans has previously been Clinical Director for Surgical Services at Poole and is currently Deputy Medical Director at Poole Hospital.
