Dr. Matthew Beake

Dr Matthew Beake is a Consultant Paediatrician at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with a special interest in paediatric cardiology. He achieved European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) certification in Congenital Heart Disease Echocardiography in 2018 and provides specialist assessment for children referred with suspected or confirmed cardiac concerns.

His clinical practice includes the evaluation of murmurs, palpitations, chest pain, fainting, and other cardiac symptoms. He also offers familial echocardiography and ECG screening for inherited cardiac conditions. Alongside his cardiac work, Dr Beake manages acutely unwell children through his roles on the paediatric inpatient ward, paediatric assessment unit, and paediatric emergency department.

Dr Beake completed his general paediatric training in the Severn Deanery, including 18 months in cardiology and paediatric intensive care at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. He was appointed Consultant Paediatrician at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in 2019. He runs a weekly cardiology clinic at Gloucester and general paediatric clinics twice monthly in Cheltenham General Hospital and Tewkesbury Community Hospital.

He works closely with the cardiology team at Bristol, holds an honorary contract with the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, and participates in their outreach clinics and Joint Cardiac Conferences (JCCs).
