I cannot recommend Dr Alkholany enough. After suffering with sciatica since Sept 2025, I was struggling to walk and it had a huge impact on my daily life. My partner and I have always enjoyed walking and usually have at least one walking holiday a year, but the pain stopped me doing the things I love. After not getting help from the NHS, i decided to seek private treatment, and it is one of the best decisions I made. Dr Alkholany was kind, professional and most importantly he really listened to everything I had to say. He took the time to explain my condition thoroughly and we agreed on a spinal steroid injection under X-ray guidance. I had already attended weekly physiotherapy sessions and had also seen an osteopath, but the improvement was minimal. Following my consultation, the procedure was booked within a week, which was a huge relief after 9 months of pain and uncertainty. Everything was explained clearly, and I felt completely at ease throughout the procedure. Dr Alkholany also explained that whilst the injection would help manage the pain, it was important to continue with some physiotherapy to help strengthen my core and support my long term recovery. Just 1 week after the injection, I am completely pain free and genuinely feel I have been given my life back. I am so grateful for the care, expertise and compassion I received. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Alkholany to anyone suffering from persistent pain.
I had been suffering with lower back pain for nearly 2 years after I had injured my back gardening, and an MRI revealed I had scoliosis, hyper lordosis, 2 bulging discs and osteoarthritis and facet joint disease. I was mortified. The overall severity of the pain did ease over time, but I was left with an annoying stabbing pain which was difficult to manage, especially as I am a Yoga Teacher. I knew I had to try and find a solution, I felt so miserable. After visiting an NHS consultant and various physios, I didn't get anywhere. I started to Google my symptoms and I realised that I could well be suffering with Cluneal Nerve Entrapment as the sharp stabbing pain was around the top of my iliac crest. I happened to Google Cluneal Nerve specialists and Dr Alkholany's name came up. After reading his bio, I decided to book an appointment immediately, despite him being based near Manchester and I live in the Midlands. At the consultation he put me at ease and let me talk at length about the injury and problems that I was suffering with. I didn't feel rushed at all, he listened intently and he came to the conclusion that it could be a Cluneal Nerve Entrapment. There were other possibilities too, but his first thought was the cluneal nerve. He talked me through the treatment options and said that we would take it step by step. I was booked in very quickly for the treatment within 3 weeks and I received a diagnostic cortisol and anaesthetic injection together with radio frequency pulsation. I felt the effects immediately but I didn't get too excited because I knew the in...
Read moreI consulted Dr Alkholany after living with severe lower back and bilateral leg pain for nearly 20 years. Over that time I had seen multiple specialists and undergone previous procedures, yet I continued to struggle significantly with daily function and quality of life. From the very first consultation, Dr Alkholany approached my case with exceptional thoroughness and clarity. He listened carefully, reviewed my long history in detail, and provided clear clinical structure and validation to symptoms that I had understood myself for many years. His explanation of possible cluneal nerve involvement and long-term sensitisation felt thoughtful, logical and grounded in experience. What stood out most was his honesty and balance. He did not over-promise outcomes and was transparent about both the potential benefits and limitations of treatment. I felt respected, taken seriously and treated as an individual rather than simply another chronic pain case. Following the bilateral cluneal nerve hydrodissection, I have experienced meaningful improvement. My baseline pain has reduced, my sleep posture has changed significantly (I am no longer waking with my body tensed and elevated in the way I had for years), and I feel more rested with better overall energy. After two decades of persistent symptoms, even these early changes feel significant. For the first time in many years, I feel genuine hope that progress is possible and that the correct anatomical target may have been identified. I am sincerely grateful for Dr Alkholany’s expertise, professionalism and compassionate approach, and I w...
Read moreI've been experiencing severe head pain for three years since having ophthalmic shingles. I couldn't cope with the pain any more so made an appointment to see Dr Alkholany. He was patient and kind, asking me relevant questions to try to get to the root of what is causing my pain.
Dr Alkholany was very caring and understanding, he explained things in very understandable terms and was clear in the plan going forward for my care . He was both professional and empathetic but was very clear on what I had to do to help myself also.
Dr Alkholany listened carefully while I described the problem I had with my shoulder. He asked relevant questions about lifestyle, medical history and medication. Following an MRI scan he diagnosed the source of the pain and then carried out successful treatment under theatre conditions. At a follow up appointment he discussed way of staying pain free. Dr Alkholany is knowledgeable, sympathetic and approachable and I can highly recommend his work.
Made me feel at ease from the moment we met, explains every step thoroughly and patiently answers any questions you have.
