Dr Lucinda Carr is a highly respected and long-standing Consultant Paediatric Neurologist whose clinical practice spans the fields of paediatric neurology and neurodisability. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care for children experiencing complex neurological conditions. Her clinical work focuses on both inpatient ward care and outpatient clinics, where she addresses a wide range of general neurological concerns alongside highly specialised multidisciplinary services.
With a particular focus on movement disorders and cerebral palsy, Dr Carr is highly skilled in the assessment and management of complex motor conditions. Her clinical interests include the use of botulinum toxin for movement disorders, neuro-orthopaedic care, and selective dorsal rhizotomy. She has contributed significantly to national and international clinical guidelines, including serving on the NICE Guideline development group for managing non-progressive spasticity in children and collaborating with the European Consensus group on botulinum toxin guidelines.
Dr Carr completed her medical training at the University of Bristol, where she obtained her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB). She holds a Diploma in Child Health and completed her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at University College London, focusing on the plasticity of the central nervous system and the neurophysiological effects of early brain damage. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH).
