Mr Louis Fligelstone is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon, in South Wales, with over two decades of experience in the field. He utilises cutting edge, non-invasive technology including endothermal (heat treatments to seal the vein) such as radio-frequency ablation and injection treatments including ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy. He is also very experience in microsclerotherapy - the gold standard for treating thread and flare veins.
Louis is an elected, executive member of the council of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland - the specialist society for Vascular Surgeons in the UK. He chairs the Annual Scientific Meeting Committee, which is responsible for the providing up to date information and education for Consultant and Trainee Vascular Surgeons.
Louis initially qualified as a doctor in 1986 at the University of Wales College of Medicine, after which he undertook a fellowship in Cardiff, during which he focused his research on abnormal clotting and peripheral arterial disease, for which he was awarded his Doctorate (MD), by the University of Wales. He undertook his Senior Registrar training at the Charing Cross Vascular Unit for training in Vascular surgery, after which he took up his Consultant Surgeon post in 1998.
During this post, Louis focused on achieving excellence regarding the diagnosis and treatment of vascular patients, and was the driving force behind a number major improvements of vascular and general surgery in Wales, such as the set up and quality assurance of the Wales Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme. I found Dr Fligelstone to be extremely informative and helpful during my procedures. I am really happy with the result post op as the ankle swelling I suffered with prior to the procedure has drastically improved as has the overall appearance of my legs where the veins were most prominent. I would highly recommend Dr Fliglestone.
I really appreciate your feedback and am so pleased that you have had a good result.

Mr Fligelstone took the time to fully explain what was happening with my veins so I understood the main causes. He put me at ease and made sure I was aware of where I could find further information of the procedures that would be offered to me once the results of my Duplex scan were known. Very helpful & informative throughout, I felt reassured I was in safe hands as I left the consultation.
It is always gratifying to know that patients appreciate having the information they need. I will ensure that this continues throughout your care.

Thank you - your feedback is appreciated.

I felt that time was taken to ascertain the problem that I was experiencing. The diagnosis was clear, although the tablets prescribed brought me out in a rash within two or three days. I ceased taking them and the rash cleared up within a week. Unfortunately the diagnosis meant I needed to look back at my spinal stenosis problem for a possible solution. Thus I need to look at other avenues to follow.
Having the time to assess and inform patients is the benefit of seeing patients in my Private Practice. This is why I ensure that a first appointment is scheduled for 30 minutes. Thank you.
