Ms Katie Schwab

Ms Katie Schwab is a dedicated Consultant General Surgeon and Consultant Colorectal Surgeon who specialises in lower gastrointestinal surgery, advanced keyhole procedures, and pelvic floor disorders. She provides individualised, compassionate surgical care for patients presenting with a wide variety of general surgical and bowel conditions. With expertise in modern surgical techniques, Ms Schwab offers patient-focused care aimed at achieving the best clinical outcomes and supporting swift recovery.

Ms Schwab qualified in Medicine and Surgery with Honours from Imperial College London in 2003, alongside earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology. She completed her Higher Surgical Training in the London Deanery before undertaking a postgraduate Doctor of Medicine research degree at the University of Surrey and the Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit. Her research into advanced 3D laparoscopic techniques gained international recognition, including the Gerhard Buess Award. She subsequently completed a specialist fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Ms Schwab maintains active professional memberships with the Association of Coloproctologists of Great Britain and Ireland and The Pelvic Floor Society, and she serves as an Instructor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

In her clinical practice, Ms Schwab offers thorough diagnostic evaluations and surgical management for conditions affecting the colon, rectum, and abdomen. Her work encompasses broad general surgical care, such as groin and abdominal hernia repairs and the excision of skin lesions, alongside specialised interventions for colorectal cancer, diverticular disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. She regularly performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy, to evaluate symptoms like rectal bleeding and abdominal pain. Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, Ms Schwab provides holistic, reassuring care for complex pelvic floor conditions, haemorrhoids, anal fissures, and anal fistulas.
