Mr Kallingal Riyad

Mr Kallingal Riyad is a highly qualified Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon who provides comprehensive surgical care for patients experiencing a broad spectrum of abdominal and digestive conditions. His clinical practice focuses on minimal-access techniques, prioritising patient safety, comfort, and efficient recovery. Mr Riyad takes a compassionate, patient-centred approach to care, ensuring that each individual receives a thorough evaluation and a clear, tailored treatment plan.

Specialising in general and colorectal surgery, Mr Riyad has deep expertise in the surgical management of primary colon and rectal cancers, complex inflammatory bowel disease, and re-operative Crohn's disease. He regularly performs laparoscopic bowel procedures, complex abdominal wall reconstructions for large hernias, and corrective surgery for enterocutaneous fistulas. In addition, Mr Riyad provides diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including upper gastrointestinal endoscopies and colonoscopies, utilising gentle techniques such as water insufflation endoscopy. Beyond his clinical operating duties, he also serves as a Medical Examiner, an Expert Witness, and a trained Mediator.

Mr Riyad earned his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, before completing basic surgical training at Calicut Medical College in India. He then undertook higher surgical training in the United Kingdom within the Yorkshire region. Demonstrating a dedication to scientific advancement, he completed two years of specialised research in molecular biology, focusing on gene-modified immunotherapy for colon cancer. Mr Riyad gained entry to the specialist register for General Surgery in 2007. He remains an active member of multidisciplinary teams in colorectal surgery and inflammatory bowel disease, as well as an Associate Member of the Civil Mediation Council.
