From initial consultation right through to post op appointment Mr Elshaer was professional and explained procedure to a high standard

My appointment was excellent

I attended appointment with my wife. Mr Elshaer greeted me & asked how I'd been doing since the operation. He listened as I advised that things seem to have gone well. I showed him the 3 sites for my external wounds & told him that these had healed well. I said I had recently discarded the scrotal support, which I had worn for over 4 weeks & again things have been fine since. There was some initial bruising to the left hand side of my scrotum, below the site of the hernia repair, but this has now cleared up. I advised that I still have a numbness down that side of my upper groin & I have been getting a slight "stinging" sensation in the area where repair was completed, but assumed that this was the nerve endings rather than a problem with the stitches. Mr Elshaer then examined the repair area, ensuring privacy screen in place, asked me to cough a couple of times whilst applying light pressure to the area. He said that things seemed fine, that the hernia was quite large, but the mesh implant should support things & the healing process. Following this we had further discussion & I advised I had been pottering around more, recently & I asked when I could re-introduce active participation in my football coaching, table tennis & exercise bike at the gym etc. He said that this should be fine, but to avoid lifting heavy weights & things that would cause me to strain, as this would load too much pressure. This should be avoided for up to 12 weeks post-operatively & that it would normally take up to 12 month for the repair to heal fully. He also advised that not only the repaired he...

I was seen quickly and was given advice clearly and precisely so I could understand.

I was very nervous about having my operation. Mr Elshaer and his medical team provided reassurance and their care and professionalism was outstanding throughout. I feel like a new woman and am very grateful to everybody involved.
