Dr Julia Aram

Dr Julia Aram is a highly regarded Consultant Neurologist who specialises in the diagnosis and management of complex neurological conditions. With a particular clinical focus on epilepsy, she serves as a dedicated Epilepsy Lead, helping patients navigate the challenges of seizure disorders and other intricate neurological issues. Her patient-centred approach is characterised by empathy, reassurance, and a commitment to delivering comprehensive, high-quality care tailored to individual needs.

Dr Aram's path to specialising in neurology is distinguished by a deep academic foundation in pharmacology and neuroscience. She initially trained as a Pharmacist before completing a PhD focused on the neuropharmacology of epilepsy. Following this, she undertook post-doctoral research in New York City before returning to the United Kingdom to study medicine as a mature student in London. She qualified in medicine and subsequently completed her specialist training in Neurology, achieving her Consultant status in 2008. She is a member of the Medical Advisory Board for Dravet Syndrome UK and is actively involved with the South of England Neurosciences Association.

In her clinical practice, Dr Aram is particularly expert in managing complex epilepsies, including rare conditions such as Dravet Syndrome, and is actively involved in implementing advanced treatment protocols. Her broader clinical interests encompass general neurology, low-grade gliomas, and the management of antiseizure medication-induced side effects.
