Dr Ian Donaldson

Dr Ian Donaldson is a dedicated Consultant Urologist with extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide array of urological conditions. Known for his empathetic and patient-centred approach, he works closely with individuals to deliver clear clinical advice, precise diagnostic assessments, and individualised treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific health needs.

Dr Donaldson maintains a strong clinical focus on urological oncology, particularly in the early detection, investigation, and management of prostate cancer. His clinical interests encompass lower urinary tract symptoms, benign prostatic enlargement, elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, and general urological health. He is experienced in utilising modern diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, including multiparametric MRI-targeted prostate biopsies, focal therapy approaches, and innovative, minimally invasive day-case procedures such as Rezum water vapour therapy alongside traditional procedures like transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).

Having earned his medical qualifications (BMedSci, BMBS) and completed comprehensive specialty training, Dr Donaldson holds Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS). He has also contributed to the advancement of urological care through his work as a Clinical Research Fellow, investigating tissue-preserving therapies and targeted diagnostic modalities for prostate conditions. He actively engages in clinical audits, research, and medical education to ensure his practice consistently reflects the latest evidence-based standards.
