Qualifications

I qualified from St Thomas Hospital in 1992 where I was awarded a BSc in physiology and MB BS Hons. After house jobs at St Thomas and Greenwich, I trained at The Hammersmith Hospital as a medical SHO, The Royal Brompton as an ITU & respiratory SHO, The London Chest as a cardiology SHO and Guy's as a renal SHO.

I became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in February 1995 and entered registrar training in cardiology in May 1995. I completed a registrar rotation at St Mary's, Hillingdon and The Royal Brompton before being awarded a BHF Research Fellowship. My MD research involved excitation-contraction coupling in cardiac myocytes and was performed at the National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College.

My training in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) tookplace at the Royal Brompton and this is my major interest. I performed clinical research into drug
eluting stents, PCI in multivessel disease and cost-effectiveness.

My current research interests include the evaluation of new intracoronary stents and the use of anti-thrombotic and lipid lowering drugs in patients with acute coronary syndrome.
