Dr Kaushik Guha is a Consultant Cardiologist at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. He was appointed in 2016 with specialist knowledge in heart failure and complex cardiac devices. He is the current acute heart failure clinical lead and lead within the local cardiac sarcoidosis service.
Following graduation from St. George's, University of London with honours in medicine and surgery, he completed junior training within a range of hospitals within London and the South East. He was awarded his MRCP during this time.
Following commencement of registrar training within the South Thames programme, Dr Guha rotated through a number of tertiary cardiology centres including St. George's Hospital, London, Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton and other district general hospitals within Surrey. During this time he gained a full exposure to all forms of acute and chronic cardiac pathology.
Dr Guha was awarded his MD by Imperial College London, following a period of study in patients with heart failure who were undergoing cardiac resynchronisation therapy. The doctoral thesis was supervised by Professor Martin Cowie. This led to the publication of a number of scientific papers and led to national and international abstracts.
Dr Guha completed his training at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Fondation trust with fellow positions at both hospitals.

Research Interests
Since his appointment, Dr Guha has retained a keen interest in research and has been the local primary investigator for a number of heart failure studies. This has included the CARDIOMEMS (remote pulmonary artery sensor) - COAST_OUS STUDY. He continues to participate within an active departmental research in all aspects of heart failure and cardiology.
Publications
Dr Guha has published over 50 peer reviewed scientific papers, articles, conference abstracts and book chapters. This has included contributions to the Oxford Textbook of Medicine and Oxford Textbook of Heart Failure.
Education
Dr Guha was the previous departmental lead for undergraduate student education. He continues to provide education to all and has been an invited speaker at both regional and national conferences.
