About Dr Hossam Elsayed
Dr Hossam Elsayed is a Consultant Cardiologist at The Priory Hospital. He qualified in 2001 from Egypt and initially trained as a general physician. In the UK, he pursued additional training in General Medicine before specialising in Cardiology. Driven by his aspiration to become a cardiologist, he joined the national training program for cardiology in Wales in 2013. Dr Elsayed has extensive experience working in general cardiology across District General Hospitals and tertiary care cardiac centres.
His subspecialty training focuses on heart failure and complex implantable cardiac devices. Dr Elsayed is considered an experienced operator of cardiac implantable devices, having received exemplary training at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, and Morriston Cardiac Centre, Swansea. Upon completing his cardiology specialist training, he undertook a prestigious clinical fellowship in complex cardiac devices at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, supervised by world-renowned experts.
Since June 2020, Dr Elsayed has been a Consultant Cardiologist at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (Good Hope Hospital). He manages the full spectrum of General Cardiology and runs specialist services in heart failure, cardiomyopathies, heart rhythm problems, and recurrent blackouts. He leads the heart failure service at Good Hope Hospital and established a virtual weekly heart failure MDT attended by community heart failure teams from North and East Birmingham.
Dr Elsayed is passionate about teaching and actively involved in training undergraduate students from Birmingham Medical School, postgraduate teaching, and training junior doctors and nurses. He serves as the Cardiology lead for fourth-year medical students, senior academic tutor, and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. In addition to teaching, he is committed to using quality improvement tools to provide patient-focused clinical care and enhance training quality.
Dr Elsayed regularly contributes to charitable work and helps raise funds for organisations in the developing world.

Excellent compassionate care from real professionals
After seeing my GP and his recommendation that I see a specialist for a heart check I got an appointment with Dr Elsayed within 2 hours at Little Aston hospital I had an excellent consultation.
Dr Elsayed was very professional, friendly and Patient focused. Dr Elsayed is an expert in his cardiology field. He explained in detail my condition and allowed plenty of time to absorb the medical information and to ask and questions for clarification. Dr Elsayed has a natural talent of makings things very easy to understand and any explains further treatment is required.
I was put at ease on arrival, and the procedure that I was to have was explained to me. I felt reassured from the beginning to the end. From the Surgeon Dr Elsayed and his colleagues and nursing staff, who were All professional and helpful. I never felt worried throughout the procedure of having the crt device fitted either. I am very grateful for their skill and knowledge, and how this will change my life, thank you. They do their jobs excellently every day, improving other people's lives. They are very special and should be commended for doing so.
Staff ,both nurses and doctors were caring and attentive. Everything about the procedure was explained clearly and simply. My only blip was having to wait 4hours for the procedure . However Dr Elsayed explained why and all staff were apologetic. All in all a good experience from the NHS

Dr Elsayed was clear on explaining his understanding of the issues & gave advice with a good bed side manner. The ward 23 nurse Hayley was also excellent, very hard working & dealt with patients with complex needs very well.
