Dr Giulia Caruso

Dr Giulia Caruso is a highly dedicated Ophthalmologist who specialises in medical retina. Currently practising as a Medical Retina Fellow in Cambridge, she provides expert care to patients experiencing complex retinal conditions. Dr Caruso is committed to delivering patient-centred, reassuring, and evidence-based treatments, ensuring that individuals receive the highest standard of care for their vision and long-term eye health.

Her clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis, monitoring, and advanced management of retinal diseases. Dr Caruso has a particular interest in conditions such as age-related macular degeneration and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy. She is highly skilled in utilising state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including optical coherence tomography and optical coherence tomography angiography, to formulate precise treatment plans. Her therapeutic expertise includes administering intravitreal injections and other advanced therapies to preserve and improve patient vision.

Dr Caruso obtained her medical degree from the University of Ferrara in Italy. Following her undergraduate medical studies, she completed her postgraduate specialist training in Ophthalmology at the University of Catania. To further refine her expertise in retinal disorders, she undertook prestigious fellowships in the United Kingdom, serving as a Medical Retina Fellow at a major teaching hospital in Southampton and as an Honorary Fellow at a prominent royal infirmary in Leicester.
