Dr Filofteia Tacea

Dr Filofteia Tacea is a dedicated Consultant Ophthalmologist and Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon who specialises in the diagnosis, surgical management, and long-term care of complex eye conditions. With a reassuring and patient-centred clinical approach, Dr Tacea provides comprehensive evaluations for individuals presenting with sight-threatening disorders and elevated intraocular pressure. Her primary focus is on preserving vision and improving quality of life through tailored treatment plans that incorporate conservative medical therapies and advanced surgical interventions.

Dr Tacea earned her primary medical qualification (MD) from Bucharest Medical University, qualifying in 2011. She subsequently completed general Ophthalmic training within the UK postgraduate medical education framework, followed by two prestigious sub-speciality clinical fellowships focused on advanced glaucoma care. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and holds active memberships in key professional organisations, including the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the North of England Ophthalmological Society.

In her clinical practice, Dr Tacea offers expert surgical management for both adult and paediatric eye conditions. Her clinical interest encompasses modern cataract procedures and a wide spectrum of glaucoma surgeries, including micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), penetrating and non-penetrating glaucoma operations, and glaucoma drainage devices. She also participates in paediatric ophthalmic assessments conducted under anaesthesia.
