Dr Lord had a very compassionate and practical approach to post-operative vulval pain and issues of infection and helped form the first steps of a journey to re-build confidence and positive thinking around overcoming fears. I felt reassured that over time this can be overcome and that it is possible to regain a happy and healthy intimate life.

Super impressed with Dr Emily Lord. Within seconds of examining me, she diagnosed the issue. She had already taken extensive background data during our conversation and then as soon as she examined me she confirmed the diagnosis. I had seen three gynaecologists over the last 9 months and the most recent two had not mentioned atrophy caused by menopause. Dr Lord has given me a comprehensive treatment plan and I’m extremely confident in the path forward. She is highly knowledgeable on her subject matter. She’s also absolutely lovely - in fact we laughed a lot!

After suffering penis pain for a number of months with symptoms that are uncomfortable at best, and painful at worst, and having had no luck with this from the GP surgery or the Urologist (granted not their main area), I did a lot of research and came across Dr Emily Lord online as her skill set best matched the symptoms I was having. I made a virtual appointment to go over my issues which Dr Lord diagnosed initially as chronic genital pain syndrome, dry skin with transient non-specific balanitis, and contact dermatitis. This was a one hour appointment and as much as it is a very personal area, Dr Lord put me very much at ease and has a great manner. Very informative and keen to get as much info as possible to try and help, all done in a friendly way. Still early days though I've now got an action plan and some hope of finally getting on top of my symptoms and getting everything better. It's not easy asking for help in this area, though please do it rather than suffer and get the opinion of an expert in this area, which Dr Lord clearly is. I wish I'd make contact with her sooner. Even knowing that there is an expert who cares and who is working with you on it is mentally rewarding.

Dr Lord was great at combining professionalism and understanding. She diagnosed me with both vulvodynia and vaginismus. It was really helpful to distinguish between the two, and create a plan of action for each condition separately. She tried to establish that the goal is to get back to where I was before developing a pain syndrome, which felt very reassuring. Other doctors have implied in the past that women's pain is a normal condition to the point where I had lost a bit of faith myself, and had accepted that I won't live normally anytime soon! Dr Lord's approach gave me some much needed empowerement to push through the remaining recovery!

I met with Dr Emily Lord for a virtual consultation today and was very pleased with how kind, professional, and, most of all, helpful she was regarding my situation. Dr Lord took the time to explain the recommended treatment for my issue and answered all of my questions. Dr Lord ensured that I felt heard and was the first Doctor I have seen about this issue who took me seriously. After the consultation, I feel positive and hopeful about treating my issue safely, as comfortably as possible and in a timely manner. Thank you very much, Dr Lord!!

I had a really positive experience at my first visit with Dr Emily Lord. For the first time in a long while, I felt genuinely listened to and understood. She took the time to go through my history in detail, asked thoughtful questions, and didn’t rush the consultation. It felt like she was looking at the bigger picture rather than just treating my symptoms. After having reoccurring thrush for what feels like forever, what stood out most was how reassurance the appointment felt. Instead of leaving with more frustration or uncertainty, I came away with a clear sense that there is a plan in place and that we’re actively working toward solving the problem. I finally feel hopeful and supported, which makes a huge difference when dealing with something that’s been ongoing. Overall, I’m so grateful for the care and attention I received! For the first time I feel like there is hope!

I was referred to Dr Lord by my GP to investigate potential causes of my transient erectile dysfunction as well as severe vasovagal response to venepuncture. In plain English, that means I tend to faint every time I see the doctor for blood tests, which is why I tend to avoid seeking medical attention, even if I have concerning symptoms. In order to somewhat reduce the anticipatory anxiety (which can be the worst part of it) Dr Lord proposed a video consultation where we got to know each other and she explained the procedure and how she offered to work with me to overcome my fears. We deployed a wide range of measures, before, during and after the procedure to reduce my anxiety with great success. For the first time in 20 years, I had a blood test taken without fainting and not even any dizziness. This was a huge relief and I can now look forward to old age without fretting about going to see the doctor to investigate even mild symptoms which could be addressed at an early stage, without causing drama. Anecdotally, this type of "needle and blood phobia" is most common among successful/ high achieving males. However, nobody is talking about this as it is associated with shame and embarrassment. Not dealing with this type of phobia and associated avoidance, can have indirect life threatening consequences.
