Dr Elizabeth Bonney

Dr Elizabeth Bonney is a highly dedicated Consultant Obstetrician who specialises in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. With a profound commitment to maternal health, she focuses on providing comprehensive care for women during pregnancy and childbirth. Dr Bonney has a particular clinical interest in high-risk obstetrics and maternal medicine, ensuring that expectant mothers receive the highest standard of clinical support. Her reassuring and patient-centred approach helps women navigate complex pregnancies with confidence and peace of mind.

A key area of Dr Bonney's expertise is the prediction and prevention of preterm birth. She is actively involved in clinical research and runs dedicated clinics focused on providing closer surveillance for women who have previously experienced early deliveries or are at a higher risk of preterm birth. Her specialised treatments include the insertion of transvaginal (Shirodkar) and transabdominal cervical sutures, as well as formulating tailored management plans for future pregnancies. Through her work, she aims to improve neonatal outcomes and support families through critical stages of their pregnancy journeys.

Dr Bonney completed her medical training at the University of Leeds, qualifying in 2002. She subsequently undertook her postgraduate speciality training within the Yorkshire region. Demonstrating a strong commitment to academic excellence, she was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (MD) for her research thesis on the prediction and prevention of preterm birth. Dr Bonney is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and actively contributes to medical education as an Honorary Senior Lecturer.
