Dr Eilbhe Whelan

Dr Eilbhe Whelan is a dedicated Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who provides compassionate and comprehensive medical care to women across all stages of life. With a patient-centred approach, she is committed to supporting individuals through every phase of their healthcare journey, from routine gynaecological care to complex obstetric management. Her clinical ethos focuses on delivering safe, empathetic, and evidence-based care tailored to the unique needs of each patient.

In her clinical practice, Dr Whelan has a specialised focus on obstetric governance, labour ward management, and perinatal care. Serving as a Lead for Obstetric Governance, she plays a central role in maintaining rigorous clinical standards, enhancing patient safety, and advancing quality improvement within maternity services. She also maintains a profound clinical interest in bereavement support and the Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT), offering thoughtful and reassuring guidance to families during challenging circumstances.

Dr Whelan completed extensive postgraduate specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She holds Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and is listed on the General Medical Council specialist register. In addition to her clinical qualifications, she has undertaken advanced academic research in gynaecological oncology, contributing to scientific literature on cervical cancer screening, endometrial health, and ovarian cancer risk factors.
