About Dr Tom Hyde
Dr Tom Hyde is a Consultant Cardiologist with over 30 years of experience. He is kind approachable and a good listener. He has a strong ability to explain medical issues using clear simple language.
He qualified from St George’s Medical School in 1993, where his academic excellence was recognized with the James Hope gold medal prize for cardiology. Following this, he completed his specialist training at top London institutions, St Bartholomew’s and the London Chest Hospital.
Dr Hyde went onto complete a international research at Green Lane Hospital, Aukland, New Zealand which led to the completion of his higher degree (MD) at the University of London on the outcomes of patients with acute coronary syndromes.
As a forward-thinking clinician, Dr Hyde is an early adopter of medical technology, he has been using Coronary CT scans to guide heart attack prevention since 2006. He can now add artificial intelligence analysis of these scans to improve patient outcomes. He uses tool such as CaRi-Heart to investigating coronary inflammation as well as CT FFR analysis to look at coronary flow.
Dr Hyde was appointed consultant in 2006 and since then has played a vital role in developing local coronary angioplasty services and more recently contributing to the launch of one of the UK’s first multidisciplinary angina clinics.
