Are you Sue Pavord?
Dr Sue Pavord is a Consultant Haematologist at Oxford University Hospitals, Associate Senior Lecturer in Medicine at St Edmund Hall and a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and Royal College of Physicians. Her special areas of interest are obstetric haematology, haemostasis, thrombosis, immunohaematology and transfusion medicine.
She has been a key player in the development of Obstetric Haematology as a subspecialism in the UK, bringing together obstetricians, haematologists and anaesthetists in close collaboration to improve the wellbeing and safety of women in pregnancy. She has recently extended this to African countries, working voluntarily to enhance awareness, education and multidisciplinary collaboration. She chairs the UK Obstetric Haematology Special Interest Group and is joint editor of The Obstetric Hematology Manual (Pavord Hunt), the leading textbook in the field. As a key opinion leader in this field, she runs an international course on haematology in obstetrics, has published widely and authored national and international guidelines, Cochrane reviews and consensus documents. Her 3 recent UK guidelines highlight her pragmatic approach and focus on planning, anticipation and attention to
detail, to prevent complications in this high-stakes area of clinical practice.
