Mr Barod is a consultant urological surgeon at the Specialist Centre for Kidney Cancer at the Royal Free Hospital and at King Edward VII's Hospital, London. He has dedicated his career to the surgical management of kidney diseases and undertakes the highest volume of kidney cancer surgeries in the UK.
He studied medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals and graduated with a first-class honours in his bachelor’s degree.
After completing his urological training in London, he undertook a two-year robotic surgery fellowship, mentored by pioneers of the technique in Detroit, USA. While there, he mastered complex robotic surgical techniques, and has bought this unique expertise back to the UK.
He has a strong and active track record in research and has completed a PhD investigating the molecular genetics of kidney cancer at University College London, where he is now an honorary clinical lecturer. He supervises PhD students, publishes widely and presents his research internationally.
