Dr Assomull completed his medical training at The University of Cambridge, qualifying in 1999 and was awarded the British Heart Foundation Junior Fellowship, enabling him to fund his MD research degree at The Cardiac MRI Unit of the Royal Brompton Hospital, London. He completed his specialist Cardiology training in North West London where he was awarded the prestigious Imperial College Interventional Fellowship two years in succession.
Dr Ravi Assomull was the Clinical Lead for cardiac outpatients at Imperial College NHS Trust, practising as an Interventional Cardiologist in hospitals of London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. His area of expertise is in cardiovascular risk prevention and advanced cardiovascular imaging (cardiac CT and MRI), often using advanced cardiac imaging (Cardiac CT and MRI) to provide detailed imaging of the heart to effectively guide subsequent invasive procedures (e.g., angioplasty).
Dr Assomull stays up to date with the most appropriate investigations, providing a tailored approach to every patient allowing for an accurate, safe and efficient diagnosis to be made. He also understands the importance of lifestyle modifications and focusses a significant proportion of his consultation on preventative strategies including the importance of optimising diet and exercise regimes.
Dr Assomull is passionate about his field of expertise and his research has been presented at International Conferences in both Europe and the USA and continues to be widely cited in medical literature. Dr Assomull continues to be involved with research that is exploring the applications of Cardiac MRI and Coronary Intervention in current clinical practice. His research thesis was awarded the Ralph Noble Prize in 2012 by the University of Cambridge.
