Dr Preeti Shah

Dr Preeti Shah (BMBs, B-Med-Sci, Msc, PGCME, FRCP) is a Consultant Rheumatologist at Manchester University Foundation Trust. She was appointed in Trafford in 2009. After graduating from Nottingham University in 1999 she trained in the North West Deanery and is on the GMC specialist register. She is a senior Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2012. She takes a very keen interest in education locally and nationally. She is Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medicine at Trafford, and Associate Foundation Programme Director for the Trust.

Dr Preeti Shah is a highly experienced rheumatologist and treats all rheumatic diseases including Osteoporosis, Connective tissue disease, Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Back pain and Chronic pain syndromes including Fibromyalgia. Her department is a nationally recognised, award winning rheumatology service that provides a high quality, protocol-driven service that offers clinical excellence. Her success is through ensuring patients receive a rapid diagnosis, close follow up and have access to appropriate allied health professionals and the most effective up to date treatments. She has established a one stop inflammatory arthritis diagnostics service and provides ultrasound assessment.

Dr Preeti Shah has a major interest in medical education, several publications in peer review journals and has been an invited speaker at recent national meetings. In her role of Education sub-committee member of the British Society for Rheumatology, she has been instrumental in organising national conferences. She enjoys teaching and promoting rheumatology to undergraduates, doctors in training and in primary care.

Dr Preeti Shah provides all General Rheumatology. This includes all types of arthritis, both inflammatory and non-inflammatory. Connective tissues disease, such as Lupus, Systemic Sclerosis, myositis, systemic inflammatory conditions, such as Vasculitis, Polymyalgia Rheumatica, metabolic bone disorders, such as Osteoporosis. She also treats general pain syndromes, such as Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue/Back pain and soft tissue conditions, such as bursitis/tendonitis.
