Dr Nick Shenker

I am an established senior Consultant Rhematologist based at Addenbrooke's Hospital where I led the NHS service for 10 years. I have developed expertise in all aspects of General Rheumatology practice with a research background in Chronic Pain Conditions.

I am the clinical lead for the Community pathway for Musculoskeletal Medicine (Back pain, shoulder, elbow, hip and knee pain). I diagnose and manage inflammatory and autoimmune disease (rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis, myositis, etc..). I have contributed to local and National guidelines on the diagnosis and management of Fibromyalgia. I have provided successful relief to many people who have the gout and related crystal arthritides.

People who see me tell me that they appreciate the friendly approach and time that I offer to get to the root of their problems. I am usually able to simplify complex issues for them in a productive manner.

I have a National profile. I Chair the Specialist Interest Group for Pain in the British Society for Rheumatology. I Chair the CRPS-UK Registry (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) and am an active member of the CRPS-UK Network. I lead the NIHR-UK Research Network Committee for Digital Technology in Pain. My research interests and publication record in peer-reviewed medical journals reflects these interests. I also act as a Trustee for the local Charity (Cambridge Arthritis Research Endeavour) and as a paid Medical Advisor to Cambridge Nutraceuticals.
