About Dr M. Shariff
Dr Shariff qualified from Oxford University where he was awarded a prestigious Nuffield Scholarship in Medicine and undertook his postgraduate clinical training in Gastroenterology at the Hammersmith, King's College and Royal London Hospitals.
Dr Shariff specialises in gastroenteorology, liver and pancreatic disease his main NHS practice at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He is lead for Hepatobiliary Medicine and Regional Deputy Lead for ERCP (an advanced Endoscopy procedure) for East of England.
He enjoys all aspects of gastroenterology including dyspepsia, irritable bowel sydrome and diarrhoea and has a sub-speciality interest in liver and pancreatic disease. He also practices advanced endoscopy including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP and EUS.
In the outpatient clinic, Dr Shariff takes time and care to understand your symptoms and has previously received excellent feedback from patients and colleagues. He is an accredited endoscopist (JAG) and has very good colonoscopy comfort scores.
In 2008, he was awarded a PhD at Imperial College London studying markers of liver cancer. He has published a number of articles in peer reviewed journals and presented at National and International conferences.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis and the classical guitar.
