Dr John P Foran

Dr. John Foran is a consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, where he treats both private and NHS patients. He qualified in medicine at St George's, University of London, in 1988. After this, he underwent training in cardiovascular medicine, and both adult and paediatric cardiology.

Dr. John Foran has specialist expertise in a range of interventional techniques including percutaneous coronary intervention, device implantation, stent implantation, catheter ablation, coronary angioplasty and left atrial appendage closure techniques. He is experienced in managing cardiac arrhythmia (heart rate and rhythm disorders), and structural heart disease.

Dr. Foran performed his first coronary angioplasty procedure in 1990 and his first catheter ablation procedure in 1991. As a result, he now has nearly 30 years of experience in these disciplines; making him highly experienced in his field.

Dr Foran is highly active in the field of academic research, and he is widely published. He has also written chapters for textbooks.

In 2003, Dr Foran pioneered left atrial appendage occlusions - a keyhole interventional technique used for stroke prevention in patients with high-risk atrial fibrillation. He now has 15 years of experience in this field.
