Dr John Bowler

Dr Bowler qualified in 1984 with distinction in pathology, medicine and surgery from St. Thomas's Hospital Medical School. He then did his training in general medicine in London and in general neurology at Atkinson Morley's Hospital with further training in general neurology, stroke and dementia at Charing Cross Hospital where he obtained his MD investigating changes in brain blood flow in stroke.

Bowler then did a three-year fellowship in Canada at the University of Western Ontario where he did further research in stroke and dementia before returning to Charing Cross Hospital.

In 1998, Dr Bowler was appointed Consultant Neurologist at the North Middlesex and Royal Free Hospitals where he practised general neurology in addition to running a specialised clinic in stroke.

Bowler has also taken part in the rota covering the Hyperacute Stroke Unit at University College London Hospital and is now a member of the multidisciplinary team looking after patients with vascular malformations etc. at the National Hospital at Queen Square.
