Professor Michael Hanna

Professor Michael Hanna is a senior consultant neurologist with a wealth of clinical consulting experience. Over the course of his career, he has assessed and treated more than 40,000 individuals suffering from a wide spectrum of neurological diseases. He currently assesses and treats more than 1,500 patients each year.

Professor Hanna sees all general neuroogy conditions and enjoys supporting patients though the diagnostic and treatment journey. He is also known internationally for his clinical care and research in muscle-wasting neurological conditions such as motor neuron disease, myasthenia gravis, mitochondrial disease, channelopathies, and neuropathy. He is the lead for inpatient neurological rehabilitation for individuals with neuromuscular neurological disease. He is very active in research to understand neurologica disease and develop therapies and has published over 500 research publications and reviews. In the last 20 years he has raised over £60 million in funds for research from research funders and philanthropy. He has held major leadership positions including Clinical Director of the entire Natioanl hoisptial for Neurology and Neurosurgery Queen Square ( over 1500 staff) 2007-2011. Since 2011 he has been the longest serving Director of the UKs largers Neurology Resaerch Institute- the UCL Queen Square Instittue of Neurology (over 1000 staff).
