Dr Joe Geraghty

Dr Geraghty is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with a specialist interest in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) disease working at Central Manchester Foundation Trust, he started working here in September 2016. He also holds the post of Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

Geraghty undertook his training in London, Liverpool, Oxford, and Manchester, he gained a broad range of experience in both general gastroenterology and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary disease, then completed a PhD at the University of Liverpool, with a further year as an Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary endoscopy fellow. Dr Geraghty's thesis focused on the causes of variability in Colorectal Cancer outcomes and the impact of the national bowel cancer screening programme. He won the prestigious SHIRE Award for Excellence from the British Society of Gastroenterology.

He specialises in Gastroenterology and Pancreaticobiliary medicine has gained additional specialist training and is competent in a variety of advanced endoscopy techniques, including Endoscopic Ultrasound and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography.
