About Prof. Jamie Murphy
Biography
Professor Jamie Murphy has extensive experience in all forms of elective and emergency, open and laparoscopic colorectal surgery. He has a national and international reputation for the treatment of bowel cancers that require advanced therapies due to their extent or complexity. Professor Murphy established the advanced / recurrent pelvic cancer service, the heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) service and also the intra-operative radiotherapy service for recurrent bowel cancer, at both Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Cleveland Clinic London. In addition to his expertise in cancer Professor Murphy is also an expert in the surgical
management of inflammatory bowel disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease).

He actually listened to us, gave us plenty of time to talk, and made sure we had space to ask every question we had without feeling rushed. That meant a lot to us during a stressful time. His knowledge and expertise in the field are outstanding. He was also very thorough in discussing all the available options – both what’s available through the NHS and the alternatives that aren’t offered by the NHS. It felt like he gave us a complete picture so we could make informed decisions.
The use of zoom allowed a confidential consultation to take place easily. Using zoom also meant we didn’t have to travel for some hours to get to the clinic.
Professor Murphy is extremely caring and positive. His explanations are always easy to understand. Nothing seems to much trouble for him. We have 100% trust in him
