Professor Murphy was absolutely brilliant; he listened to my concerns and offered a treatment plan that has worked for me. His bedside manner was fantastic; he explained everything incredibly well, and given that the area in question can be quite a sensitive one for most people, I didn't at any point feel embarrassed or like I couldn't fully explain my symptoms, etc. Prof. Murphy and his surgical team are an asset to the Cleveland Clinic.
Professor Murphy is the most caring, compassionate and gifted surgeon. I was terrified following my cancer diagnosis through an NHS screening. He saw me within a week and operated within two weeks. He even took the time to call me on a Sunday with my histology results. I will never be able to thank him enough He has given me the opportunity to continue to live my life. I cannot recommend him enough.
Prof. Jamie Murphy was professional, easy to speak with, explained my diagnosis very clearly in an easy to understand way. So pleased when researching a consultant that he was more than I had expected. Very happy with my selection. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Professor is so kind an explains everything clearly, delighted to be under such a caring surgeon
Dr Murphy is an outstanding clinician with excellent communication skills and empathy. He explained the options clearly and so I was able to make a balanced and informed decision and to feel confident about the next steps.
Prof Murphy was kind and reassuring, clear about next steps, and answered my questions thoughtfully.
I had three consultations regarding my hernia, including one over the phone. During the first consultation, I was told that I had one hernia and that I probably had another one on the other side. Instead of arranging a scan to confirm this, I was told not to worry about the smaller one and to proceed with the larger hernia with open surgery. Later, when I emailed with some questions, I was told that questions could only be answered through another consultation. One of my questions was whether, if I had two hernias, both could be treated during the same surgery. During that consultation, I was then told that a scan was needed — something that could have been recommended during the initial appointment. The scan confirmed that I had two hernias. I was then told that the surgery could not be performed by this doctor and I was referred to another doctor. Overall, I feel that a scan should have been arranged during the first consultation rather than requiring me to attend three consultations unnecessarily. I was charged £250 for a two-minute phone consultation, my insurance excess cover was used, and I now have additional costs with the new doctor. The overall experience left me feeling that I was treated more as a source of payment rather than as a patient whose time, concerns, and healthcare needs were being properly considered.
Prof Murphy is exemplary in his bedside manner, care and attention to detail. I am grateful for the service I received under his’ care. He ‘knows his’ onions’ (technical code for ‘definitely knowledgeable in his field of work’). Careful to answer my questions and clarify details that clouded my mind. Putting my fears to rest. Thank you Prof You do excellent work indeed.
My experience with Dr. Murphy has been truly exceptional. He has been incredibly helpful and patient with me throughout this whole process. I really appreciate how accommodating he has been — even taking the time to respond through his secretary just to help me manage my symptoms.
