Prof. Charles Henry Knowles

Charles Knowles is the Lead for Colorectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic London and Professor of Surgery at Queen Mary University of London. He has been a Consultant Colorectal surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust since 2006, after completing his studies at Cambridge University in 1992. He is highly regarded as an international opinion leader on pelvic floor disorders, proctology and GI neuromuscular diseases, including common colorectal conditions such as chronic constipation, faecal incontinence, haemorrhoids, fissure and fistula. His impressive record of delivering quality research and shaping clinical practice is evidenced by his multiple national and international leadership roles, including becoming the inaugural Chief Academic Officer at CCL. He has published extensively in scientific journals (> 300 peer-reviewed papers) and major textbooks. He is also a semi-professional musician and internationally published author.
