Mr Edward Westcott shows a professional, friendly, patient, and kind approach in his interactions with patients. His exceptional surgical skill is evident in procedures like epigastric hernia repair, complex laparoscopic resection for cancer, and challenging reversal of Hartmann's procedure with mesh removal. He provides comprehensive explanations for diagnosis, procedures, and aftercare, offering reassurance and instilling confidence. Patients praise his excellent bedside manner and dedicated support for all concerns, demonstrating a broad surgical expertise including laparoscopic techniques and various hernia repairs.
Mr Westcott repaired an epigastric hernia for me. He gave me a comprehensive explanation of the procedure, logistics of the day, and aftercare advice and expectations. I felt very confident about the outcome and can confirm everything went to plan, just as he said it would! Thank you!
Mr Westcott and Mr Holland (Gynae) performed a complex surgery with great skill and professionalism. I was very grateful that Mr Westcott was present as my bowel was perforated and the fix has worked perfectly. Mr Westcott has a great bedside manner and ensured that I was well looked after pre and post surgery. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Westcott.
No one ever wants to hear the words 'you have cancer'. They're terrifying. They change how you see yourself, the world, everything — and in an instant, they make you feel completely helpless. Mr Westcott gave me something I didn't expect in that moment: hope. His humanity was extraordinary. He was calm, clear, and honest — but above all, he made me feel like a person, not a patient. That outlook didn't just help me. It eased the fear for my wife and my parents too, at a time when we were all desperately looking for something to hold onto. And beyond that, he did his job with exceptional skill — performing a complex laparoscopic resection to remove the cancer and give treatment a fighting chance. I cannot thank him enough. He is the gold standard of what a surgeon and a human being should be.
I had 5 surgeries in Barcelona, where I nearly lost my life. It began with a really sharp pain in my abdomen, an emergency operation because there was sepsis and a perforation in my sigmoid colon. - a life threatening condition. The barcelona doctors closed the perforation, but, unfortunately, the colon started to leak. There was a buildup of fluid and a stone then dislodged itself from my gall bladder, which was extremely extremely painful. Another emergency operation took place. But, while in the OR, my vitals started to fail. Perhaps not knowing what to do, the doctors decided to stall for time, and put me in an induced coma for 5 days. Long story short, many things went wrong - i ended up losing my appendix, gall bladder, parts of my stomach (there was so much bleeding). There were 3 more procedures, but I survived. I left spain with a mesh in my abdomen, a colostomy bag, no core muscles in my abdomen (they had been moved to the side to accommodate the mesh), 30% less blood in my left leg (they had accidentally nicked my iliac artery), and a huge ulcer on my left foot (i spent 7 weeks in the hospital, most of it in the ICU, and i was not moved much). For most of the year, i rehabbed slowly. I learned how to live - survive, really - with a colostomy bag, and consulted with the best doctors in Manila on how to remove the colostomy bag (the procedure is called a reverse Hartmann), how to remove the mesh, and somehow restoring my core muscles. None of the top doctors consulted were comfortable preforming the reverse Hartmann. “Too many adhesions - it may take 8 h...
Read moreMr Westcott was very polite, professional and a pleasure to deal with. my overall experience with Mr E Westcott could not have gone better.
Mr Edward Westcott gave a very professional support and saw me several times in the Shard rooms in the lead up to the operation. He also came round both before and after the operation at The Princess Grace Hospital, to explain everything.
I found each stage of consultation to be pleasant and informative.
Went to a great deal of care & patience to explain the process for the recommended procedure
