Dr Edward Barnes

Dr Edward Barnes is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist in the Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2002, where he is the clinical lead for Cardiology, and also works at BMI Healthcare. He was previously the lead for the Avon, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset Cardiac network and remains involved to optimise patient care and outcomes.

He has a special interest in chest pain, coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndrome and diagnostic and interventional cardiology. His vast knowledge and innovative work in cardiology ensure he provides the highest standard of care.

He has a keen interest in medical education and was involved in the introduction of TV cameras in the cardiac catheter lab in Swindon which allows students to watch operations live as a teaching experience. He has been a guest speaker at GP education sessions and is a regular contributor to the British Journal of Cardiology.
