Dr Acharya has a special clinical interest in respiratory conditions such as asthma, non-invasive ventilation, obstructive sleep apnoea, bronchoscopy,exhaled nitric oxide, airway inflammation and non-invasive monitoring for sleep disordered breathing. He also has a special interest in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea with nocturnal CPAP and treatment of type 2 respiratory failure with nocturnal home ventilation.
He trained in Respiratory Medicine at teaching hospitals in the South Thames region: St Thomas; Guy's and Kings College Hospital, London. He also trained at a specialist tertiary referral cardio-thoracic hospital, Papworth in Cambridge,and has retained links with these centres of excellence.
