Dr David Reffitt

Mr Reffitt has just successfully completed an ampullectomy on a giant polyp found in my duodenum. Because of its size the procedure was complex and fell into the category of ‘high risk’. Notwithstanding that, through his clear explanations and empathy, Mr Reffitt quickly earned my trust and I elected for surgery to go ahead as necessary. After three hours in theatre the procedure was successfully completed. Although I can’t fully appreciate the detail of what took place, it’s abundantly clear his skill is amazing. I was disappointed with my experience with Dr Reffitt. I felt there was limited empathy for the fact that I was pregnant and that my symptoms were dismissed rather than properly investigated. I understand that invasive investigations could not be performed during pregnancy, but I would have expected a suitably qualified specialist to explore alternative ways of reaching a diagnosis rather than simply prescribing another medication, the same one my GP has prescribed the week earlier. Overall, I felt my concerns were not properly listened to or addressed, and I would have expected a more careful and individualised approach.

Dr Reffit had a very calm and professional manner, from the first telephone consultation to the procedure itself he was calm and reassuring. It felt like procedure was done as gently as possible and Dr Reffit explained and was communicating what to expect and what was visible during the process.

I have had two Gastroscopy and follow-up consultations with Dr Reffitt – No nonsense clear explanations - a very good experience overall , No drama just straight to the point factual information which helps me to make decisions about my lifestyle and treatment choices.

Clear, concise, professional and thorough. Felt like I was in good hands throughout. His practice manager Pam was also very attentive, friendly and helpful.
