About
Consultant Gastroenterologist Dr Hayee is based at King's College Hospital, where he has been the clinical lead for the department since 2015. He is a nationally-accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist and specialises in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and high-quality endoscopy. He is also the training lead for endoscopy at King's and co-director of the King's Institute of Therapeutic Endoscopy. Additionally, he was shortlisted for an HSJ Excellence in Healthcare award in 2017 after leading the development of the specialist IBD service. He is committed to innovation and delivering the highest quality service possible.
Dr Hayee trained at Guy's Hospital in 1999 before undertaking a travelling fellowship to Yokohama, Japan to study advanced endoscopic techniques. He later undertook a PhD looking at the role of innate immunity and neutrophil function in Crohn's disease and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2015. He remains actively involved in research and supervises PhD fellows and basic scientists.
He is a member of a number of professional societies, including the European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation, the American and European Societies for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Association for Bariatric Endoscopy. He is also a member of the endoscopy section committee of the British Society of Gastroenterology.

Dr Bu' Hussain Hayee carried out the G-POEM proceedure on me around 4 weeks ago. The proceedure has been a complete success. I felt very informed before and after the procedure and knew exactly what I needed to do, to look after myself on my return home. I would like to thank Dr Bu' Hussain Hayee for his professional, empathic, communication and for carrying out the life changing procedure successfully.

I have had the pleasure of having care from Dr Hayee for many years now and would not ever consider moving away from him all the time I have Crohn’s disease. He explains things clearly & simply and is always happy to answer any questions you may have. Even during the colonoscopy he is happy to talk me through every step & even answer questions I may have mid procedure!
