Dr Andreas Schenk

Dr Andreas Schenk is an experienced General Adult Psychiatrist with special interests in Occupational Pscyhiatry and Aviation Psychiatry. He qualified as a medical doctor in 1992 and as a specialist psychiatrist in 2000. He worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the South African and UK National Health Services for over 7 years before being appointed as a Consultant at the Priory Hospital Southampton in 2007 and Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital in 2013. Dr Schenk has copious experience assessing and treating aviation professionals and in 2019 he was appointed as Advisor in Psychiatry to the UK Civil Aviation Authority. Maintaining an active outpatient practice of more than 500 client contacts per year, he is always pleased to welcome new patients.

Prior to specialising, Dr Schenk passed Parts 1 & 2 of the USMLE examinations (American Medical Licensing exams) and worked as a GP with a special interest in Chronic Fatigue (ME). As a consultant psychiatrist he has been in charge of inpatient biological psychiatry and psychotherapy units. In addition, he has worked in liaison psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and eating disorders. His work outside of the UK has given him a valuable cross cultural perspective on psychiatry. He has a strong interest in Lifestyle Medicine and is a founding member of the European Lifestyle Medicine Organisation and the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.
